On Saturday, September 8th, more than 650 United Way of 1000 Lakes supporters and dozens of volunteers came out to make a difference in our community and help set the pace for the United Way’s annual giving campaign. The morning event featured a themed lumberjack 5K & one-mile fun run, pancake cook-off competition, pancake breakfast, and games for all ages.

Essentia Health, Timberlake Lodge, KOZY/KMFY, Dale’s Auto Body, Inc., L&M Fleet Supply, Paul Bunyan Communications, Thrivent Financial, Lefty’s Tent & Party Rental, Arrow Embroidery, Deerwood Bank, and Kiwanis provided generous sponsorship's.

For more than fifty years, United Way has played an essential role in bringing people, ideas, and resources together to address the immediate needs of families while also serving as a convener of and backbone for powerful collaborations that remove barriers to economic prosperity and build pathways out of poverty.

United Way’s campaign theme is focused on fighting for the health, education, and basic needs of every person in every community. The campaign runs through December with numerous giving and volunteer opportunities available including community events, payroll deductions, cash gifts, direct billing, and credit card options found online at unitedwayof1000lakes.org. Each donation made through United Way of 1000 Lakes is tax deductible and directly impacts 1-in-3 people living in the Itasca Area.
